As the founder and CEO of a tech startup, I found that transparency about my condition to my colleagues was a major step in the right direction. I spoke individually to my key wingmen, I took each out separately to lunch and explained the situation and my plan for improvement.

Later, like the speaker in the video, I held a meeting for everyone where I was crystal clear about the good, bad, and ugly, of bipolar disorder and the steps we’d take to mitigate the downsides and even take advantage of the occasional perks of the disease.

Opening up to the team seem to reap rewards . immediately and in many ways personally and professionally. And I like to think that I might be of those slowly chipping away at the stigma of mental illness.
